You'll hear a melodic twist, a unique blend of energetic Folk and Roots music.

Michelle Boudreau, singer/songwriter, spoken word artist gardener and mom was born into a musical family of gypsies, clowns and storytellers. Mortimer Prince, Michelle’s great-grandfather was a violin prodigy at the age of 14, touring worldwide. She spent summers as a child listening and learning violin from this exceptional man. Among the greats, an uncle who can play two trumpets at the same time.

Originally from Edmonton, Michelle was a member of St. Albert Children’s Theatre. Michelle spent 10 years, from the age of 7 in productions like, “Annie” “Sound of Music” ”West Side Story” and many more classic productions. This is where Michelle learned how to be on stage and learn an appreciation for the art of music, theatre and poetry.

Michelle became interested in the guitar at the age of 14 after having a delicate thyroid surgery and not having a voice for three months, possibly never to come back. With a little help from her Dad and a 30 year old classical guitar, Michelle was able to piece together some chords and the rest was history.

As a punk rock teenager, Michelle and her family moved to Regina, Saskatchewan. The dark prairie roots made her fall in love with its landscape, art, people and beauty. In 2003 Michelle went from punk rock guitar chick to a country toting singer with Kathy Stochmal in the “Frontier Gals”. Michelle has shared the stage with Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Ember Swift, Little Miss Higgins and many more.

A garden with a house in small town Lacombe, Alberta. After taking a break from touring to have two beautiful children, Boudreau has a suitcase full of unrecorded songs and is ready to share them. While being a super mom, Michelle had an opportunity to refine her skills being published, scored in major films such as “surveillance” by Jennifer Lynch, and awarded at the Edmonton Poetry Festival in 2009, Slam Champ.

Since 1998, Michelle has released four solo independent albums Reality, Little Black Ninja, Another Take, This Room. All receiving rave reviews.

Michelle’s energetic folk, catchy songs and honest music have created quite the following. Michelle has toured Canada up to Yellowknife and down to Vancouver, playing festivals, coffee houses, event stages and many other fantastic venues. Her energetic folk music has been compared to the likes of Ani Difranco, Sinead O Connor, Janis Joplin. Michelle’s music is always refreshing, unique and original.

Reviews:

  • "Boudreau's haunting vocals, a raspy chanteuse in the tradition of Sinead O'Connor and Janis Joplin. Combined with a hyperkinetic stage presence.."
    - Will Gibson, St.Albert Gazette

  • "Michelle--who looked a little daunted by our stone cathedral...tucked any fears into her back pocket, and just kicked...such an inventive, brave performer. Michelle has a stunning voice, and is a fine musician, but has absolutely no worries about pushing her voice and guitar to the edge of mean to get the emotional intensity she needs."
    - Kelley-Jo Burke, The Gallery, CBC Saskatchewan

  • "Michelle Boudreau is a woman armed with a guitar, expansive voice and feisty lyrics, so comparisons to folk/punk cult hero Ani Difranco are going to be inevitable."
    - GM, prairie dog magazine

  • "Michelle has a sound all her own and she makes audiences laugh, cry, and dance at will with her eclectic, high-energy performances. Count on seeing her at the top of the scene soon."
    - Jasmine Whenham, Singer Songwriter
